Men Appreciate Style, But Dress For Comfort

Half of men (50%) say they express their personality through the clothing they wear, according to Men’s Warehouse. A majority of adults (65%) say a man’s level of maturity can be measured by what he wears. They believe that a well-dressed man is confident (67%), successful (55%), sophisticated (38%), smart (35%), and sexy (30%).

Most men (72%) believe they are often underdressed, which may be because 69% prefer comfortable over fashionable clothing. Nearly six in 10 men (56%) dread going clothes shopping. They are almost twice as likely to consider it a necessary chore (60%) as a fun outing (32%). Some 23% of men think shopping for a suit is more stressful than going on a first date. The vast majority of men (94%) have bought a suit, most commonly for an occasion such as:

A wedding (37%);

Job interview (32%); or

New job (30%).

Most people (83%) think a man looks better when he wears a suit. Some men say they feel more confident (41%) and people take them more seriously (34%) when they wear a suit. [Men, Clothing/Accessories]
