More than seven in 10 renters (71%) are active on social networks, but only 25% of them use such sites to search for a new apartment, according to Apartments.com. In addition, fewer than 10% of renters connect with their apartment community via such networks — a small number because half of renters say their community does not have a presence on social media, and many say they do not live in an apartment community.
The top reasons apartment hunters use social media in their search for a place to live include:
• Finding additional apartment community information or recommendations (58%);
• Seeking photos and videos of apartments (55%);
• Searching for apartment listings (53%);
• Hunting for special incentives and offers (47%); and
• Sharing apartment information with friends and seeking feedback (21%).
