Overweight kids are 63% more likely to be bullied by classmates than their regular-weight peers, regardless of gender, race, family income, academic achievement, or social skills, according to Pediatrics. Nearly half of moms (45%) say their children are bullied, compared to 25% of the children who claim to be targets of bullies. The study specifically looks at 6-9-year-olds, who are the targets of bullying’s peak years, according to researchers.
