Mobile Gamers Learn About New Games Via Word of Mouth

Mobile gamers learn about new games primarily through word of mouth, including user reviews and tips from friends/family members, according to social game promotion network Applifier.

One in five mobile gamers (20%) are “Sharers,” who actively share their favorite games with others and like to discuss aspects of play. Sharers are 50% more likely than other gamers to discover new mobile games through social connections and are 50% more interested in playing mobile games with others. More than half of Sharers (54%) download six mobile games or more per month, compared with 35% of mobile gamers overall who download that many [calculations by Research Alert]. Sharers also spend more time playing than other gamers do.

The most popular mobile game genres are puzzle games (58% of mobile gamers play), action arcade (46%), racing (35%), and adventure (34%).
