Americans’ use of quick-service and fast-casual restaurants varies significantly by race/ethnicity, according to Placed Insights. Asian Americans are less likely than the average consumer to eat at any of the four top fast-food restaurants: Wendy’s (46% less likely), Taco Bell (32% less likely), McDonald’s (17% less likely), and Burger King (14% less likely) [calculations by Research Alert]. Hispanics are 16% less likely than average to eat at Wendy’s. African Americans are 13% more likely than average to eat at Wendy’s but 14% less likely than average to eat at Taco Bell.
Asians are almost four times more likely than the average American to visit Jamba Juice and almost three times more likely to patronize In-N-Out Burger. Hispanics are four times more likely than average to eat at Pollo Tropical and three times more likely to eat at El Pollo Loco. In-N-Out Burger is also popular with Hispanics. African Americans are three times more likely than average to visit Church’s and more than twice as likely to visit Checkers or Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits.
