Some 58% of Pinterest users are women, according to various statistics, and new research finds that Pinterest users have particular preferences in the images they repost, according to Curalate.

The most repinned images are rich in detail and have multiple colors. To this end, images with multiple dominant colors have 3.25 times more repins per image than those with one dominant color. Very light or very dark images aren’t likely to be repinned, and images of medium lightness are 20 times more likely to be repinned than predominantly black images and eight times higher than predominantly white images.

Red, orange, and brown images receive twice as many repins as blue images. Images with 50% saturation are four times more likely to be repinned than images with 100% saturation and 10 times more likely than desaturated images.

Brand images without faces receive 23% more repins than images with faces. Images with less than 30% background or white space are repinned the most; images with more than 40% of white or background space are significantly unlikely to be reposted.
