Parents, Teens Say Social Media Brings Them Together

8/15/2013

One in two teens say they use social media to communicate with their parents, according to Brigham Young University researchers. Some 16% use social media with their parents daily, including retweeting or liking a post. Two in 10 teens (20%) use social media to directly talk with their parents every day.

It’s parents and not the tools that make the difference. Researchers find that teens who are heavy social media users but don’t use these tools to connect with their parents are more likely to be depressed, disconnected, delinquent, and aggressive.
