Two in Three Teens Visit Theme Parks

Two in three teens ages 12-17 have visited a theme park in the past year, compared with 23% of adults, according to Mintel. The number of teen park visitors, however, is down from 76% five years ago.

Teens are spending more on each visit. They spent an average of $170 in 2012, up from $150 in 2007-10. The top five purchases while in theme parks are food (83%), beverages (74%), souvenirs for family and friends (45%), souvenirs for themselves (33%), and photographs (26%).

Theme park guests embrace technology. Three in four (76%) want parks to use technology to manage wait times.
