College students say the top reason to attend college is to “get a better job,” according to college resource provider Global Grad. Yet, hiring managers tend to downplay educational degrees when it comes to seeking new employees. In fact, taking personal responsibility for successes and failures is 3.6 times more important than the particular college from which the student graduated;setting priorities and managing time effectively is 3.1 times more important than the student’s GPA.

And following directions effectively is 2.7 times more important than having prior volunteer experience.
