More than seven in 10 U.S. consumers (72%) believe they are still living in a recession, even though the Great Recession technically ended in 2009, according to Nielsen. On average, consumers worldwide are making fewer shopping trips per year than they were in 2009 (144 trips per year vs. 158), but they are spending more per trip.
