Even Affluent Americans Shop at Dollar Stores

11/4/13

More than two-thirds of Americans (68%) with annual household incomes of $150,000 or more shop at dollar store, according to Mintel. Half (50%) say they’re shopping at dollar stores as often as they did last year, and another 10% say they’re shopping at these retailers more often than they did last year.

Six in 10 high-income dollar store shoppers (60%) feel these stores offer better prices than other retailers, but only 34% think the brands and products offered there are of equal quality to those sold at other types of retailers.
