Most Mature Adults Ask for Flu Vaccine

11/15/13

More than two-thirds of U.S. adults ages 60 and older (68%) are at least somewhat likely to ask a doctor or pharmacist about the flu vaccine this year, according to Merck. About half (47%) are worried about getting the flu, while 41% are worried about getting pneumonia. Just over half (54%) are somewhat or very likely to ask about the vaccine for pneumonia.

Although they’re more likely to inquire about immunizations for the flu than for pneumonia, adults 60 and older are more likely to consider pneumonia extremely or very serious than they are to consider flu extremely or very serious (70% vs. 38%).
