Women are responding to their lingering doubts about the economy by focusing on self-care, and it seems to be improving their mood, finds Saatchi & Saatchi. Although 92% of women say they’re still feeling the negative impact of the recession, their responses to it have shifted. In 2009, women cited their chief goals as “holding it together” and “surviving the day.”
In the 2011 survey, 64% say they’re committed to making positive changes and taking better care of themselves. More than half (52%) are committed to having more fun.
To bring about these changes, they’re stepping up spending on hair care (47%), skin care (45%), and oral care (51%) products; exercising more often (48%); and considering taking vacations (35%). They’re also buying healthy foods (54%) and organic foods (47%) more often. [Women, Health/Treatment/Wellness]
