Millennials living in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut spend the most on coffee, with those in Maine – the most caffeine-addicted state – spending a remarkable $307 a year on average.
According to the study, which analyzed user data from the past year to see exactly how people born between the late eighties and early 2000 spend their money on things considered ‘vices’, the Northeast is also home to the millennials who drink the most alcohol.
Mississippi, Iowa, Alabama, South Dakota and West Virginia spend the least on alcohol.
When it comes to fast food, however, the geographic trends are completely opposite.
Twenty-somethings in Oklahoma are the biggest spender on fast food by far, shelling out around $1,194 a year. In fact, more than two-thirds of Oklahomans buy fast food at least once a week.
In second place is Kansas, where millennials spend $1,040 a year at fast food chains, followed by Texas, Virginia and Maryland.
Adversely, nearly all of the states that spend the least on fast food are located in the Northeast.
Vermont is on the very bottom of the list, where millennials only spend about $431 a year. Rounding out the bottom five are Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Montana.
