Some 49% of U.S. adults point to their smartphone as the device they most commonly use when looking for local information online (i.e. shopping, restaurants, and local services), up from 42% of respondents last year and topping PCs and laptops (40%) in the process, per a recent report from the Local Search Association.
The study also finds that 43% of smartphone users to be “mobile fanatics,” defined as smartphone owners who conduct more than 10 searches per week on at least two mobile devices from multiple locations. This group tend to be younger and higher-income than the standard smartphone user.
