According to a survey conducted by the United States Census Bureau, adults who identify as lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT) reported consistently higher rates of both depression and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic than their non-LGBT counterparts.
Previous research by the Census Bureau says that while living alone during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns, adults were more susceptible to struggling with their mental health than others who lived with roommates or family. However, newer research indicates that adults of the LBGT community had more pervasive mental health struggles regardless if they lived alone, with another adult or with children.
