Women in their 40s and 50s are more likely than those in their 20s and 30s to have a positive outlook on life, and less likely to feel that life is difficult, according to Yahoo and Digitas Health. For many women, midlife is a time of empowerment; half of those ages 40-59 agree strongly that they can do almost anything they set their minds to.
Women in their 40s and 50s rely on the Internet for health information and support around health-related issues: 56% frequently go online in search of health information. Nearly half of women ages 40-59 (48%) agree strongly that patients play a more active role in diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions than they used to because the Internet provides easy access to health information.
Women prefer that their doctors act as partners in healthcare decision-making. Six in 10 say the conversations they have with their doctors are generally productive, but only 34% feel comfortable during those discussions. [Women, Healthcare]
