Most women who are active users of social networks trust the information and/or advice they find there, according to BlogHer. Blogs and Pinterest are the most trusted social networks among women who use social media.
Six in 10 blog users have made purchases based on recommendations they saw on blogs, compared to a third who have done so based on Facebook recommendations.
Nearly seven in 10 regular blog readers (69%) have used advice from blogs to help them make a decision on a consumer electronics purchase. More than half of social network users (53%) have consulted status updates on one of their social networks to help with consumer electronics purchase decisions.
When shopping for beauty products, women cite familiar bloggers (61%) and store websites (46%) as the most helpful sources for product advice and recommendations. Facebook is valued more as a place to socialize and be entertained than as a source of product information and recommendations. Although blogs have greater influence on purchase decisions, they’re not nearly as widely used as Facebook.
