Eight in 10 grocery shoppers purchase fresh fruit and vegetables weekly, according to the Perishables Group, Yerecic Label, and the Produce Marketing Association. Buyers of fresh produce say pre-packaged vegetables and fruit make up less than 15% of their produce purchases. Nine in 10 produce shoppers say the attribute most likely to entice them to purchase packaged produce over non-packaged varieties is packaging that preserves freshness and taste.
