Nearly A Quarter Of Americans Can’t Afford Groceries

More than four in 10 U.S. consumers ages 35-54 (43%) say their financial circumstances deteriorated in 2012, according to SymphonyIRI. More than a quarter of 35-54-year-olds (27%) are having difficulty affording groceries, as are 22% of consumers overall.

Americans ages 35-54 are 22% more likely than average to be bringing meals and snacks to work or school to save money.
