Cadillac is licensing its name and image for a line of footwear targeting urban teen boys. “Cadillac is a brand that urban kids know and aspire to. It’s an image that is unique to Cadillac. You don’t get it when you hear Buick or Toyota. Can you picture kids wearing a Buick or Toyota shoe? Even Ferrari targets a different shopper. Urban kids may not be able to afford a Cadillac, but we offer the next best thing,” says Cadillac Footwear’s Miguel Rodriguez.
The shoes are sold at specialty retailers and Foot Locker at a price that allows teens to “wear a $200 shoe for $25.” Although it offers boy sizes from infant to adults, it hasn’t yet expanded into women. “We do get a lot of girls wearing them, but we find girls just buy the corresponding guy size.” [Footwear/Licensing]
