Children receive an average of $3.70 per lost tooth, up 23% from 2012, according to Visa.
The amount left under the pillow varies based on where children live. Kids in the Northeast receive the most money, at $4.10 per tooth; children in the West get $3.70 per tooth, those in the South receive $3.60 per tooth, and Midwestern children get $3.30 per tooth.
One in three parents say they typically leave less than $1 per tooth. Visa says parental pressure is causing tooth fairy inflation. Parents ask other parents what they leave, and no one wants to be the stingy parent.
