More Than 1 in 3 Young Adults Online “Almost Constantly”

Some 21% of U.S. adults report going online “almost constantly,” while another 42% go online “several times a day,” according to the Pew Research Center.

The data shows that the percentage who are online “almost constantly” is highest among 18-29-year-olds (36%), college graduates (29%) and those with incomes of at least $75k (28%). These groups also over-index in their smartphone ownership, according to earlier Pew data.

Indeed, mobile connectivity is linked to the frequency of going online in the latest data from Pew.

In revealing that about 3 in 4 Americans use a smartphone, tablet or other mobile device to access the internet at least occasionally, Pew notes that 27% of these adults go online “almost constantly,” compared to 21% on average.
