Dads: I Want To Be Just As Involved As Moms

Nearly all dads (97%) say that being a dad influences how they make purchase decisions and nearly half (46%) are less likely non-dads to make impulse decisions, according to Dad Central Consulting, a division of Mom Central Consulting.

Dads seek others’ input when it comes to family purchases, with 88% saying they trust their wife the most, followed by their parents (51%). That said, dads trust different sources depending on what they are purchasing. Wives have the most input over household items, appliances, finance matters, and gifts. They listen to their children on what games to buy. Dads trust other dads for advice over parenting issues, sports, technology, and car-related purchases.

Unlike moms who largely connect online, most dads (80%) connect through one-on-one conversations. Two in three (68%) talk with co-workers who are also dads and 63% discuss issues with friends over email. Only 17% use online community sites. [Family]
