Charitable giving rates get higher with each level of education, a new poll from Gallup indicates. Rising from only 38% of people with a high school diploma to a whopping 77% with a graduate degree. Volunteer rates double between non-college attending adults (14%) and adults with some postsecondary education (27%). It increases even further with those who hold a bachelors degree (38%) and 47% with a graduate degree.
Besides just higher levels of civic engagement, Americans with some education beyond high school have better physical health. 61% of bachelor degree holders say their health is “excellent” or “very good”. This is compared to the 43% who haven’t pursued education beyond high school. The link between education and health is there even after adding controlling factor like age, gender, race and ethnicity.
