Wrigley’s gum is debuting MyExtraGum.com, a website that enables users to create and purchase personalized gum packages. Users submit a message and upload their own photos or select from an array of templates. At this time, only the outer package of MyExtra gum is customizable, though print on the wrapper may be added. The site also features finished designs by others in a gallery.
The concept allows parents to create personalized invitations for b-day parties, mementos for school activities, or to acknowledge special occasions. However, users are unable to print any trademarked images, such as specific sports teams, landmarks, or celebrities. Wrigley also advises against including personal information such as phone numbers or email addresses, on the gum package.
The custom packages contain 15 sticks of gum and are available in three flavors: Extra Peppermint, Spearmint, and Sweet Watermelon. Each one costs $4.99 and takes 14-21 days to print and ship. [Online/Food]
