Teens Prefer To Text, Not Speak Their Love

With teens preferring text messages to talking, it’s probably no surprise that 40% of teens 13-17 think it’s acceptable to tell someone “I love you” for the first time via text; 35% have actually done so, according to app and texting software developer TextPlus. One in three teens who text this sentiment don’t spell the word love, but prefer to use <3. Their top three sayings are “b mine,” “I <3 U,” and “ur hot.”

Teens sometimes press send a little too quickly. Three in 10 (30%) admit to accidentally texting “I love you” to the wrong person at least once. [Telecommunications]
