Black and Hispanic children aged 4-18 are less like than White children to say swimming is an activity they enjoy, according to USA Swim. Black children are more likely than Whites to say they do not like to get their hair wet when swimming, and less likely to say their friends know how to swim or that their parents encourage them to swim.
Hispanic children are more likely than Whites to say they are not physically fit, which affects their ability to swim, and that they are concerned about injuring themselves while swimming. They are less likely to believe they could be a successful competitive swimmer. [Exercise/Fitness, Youth]
