Mothers of any age could be considered part of the “sandwich generation,” since most of their free time is devoted to their children and their parents, according to Real Simple magazine and the Families and Work Institute.
Cleaning is the chore that women would most like to eliminate from their to-do lists, while decorating, managing household finances, and organizing are the chores they don’t really mind performing. More than four in 10 women (45%) would not hire more household help if they could afford it, and 69% of moms would not hire more child care if they could afford it.
One in five women share the work of home improvement and gardening projects with their spouses. Moms are more likely to delegate chores to their children several times a week than they are to delegate them to their significant others (39% vs. 26%).
