Teen girls spend an average of $13.60 a month on beauty products, up from $12.10 in 2009, according to the NPD Group. Tween girls spend an average of $9.80 a month, up from $9.20 in 2009.
Teen girls are more likely than tween girls to say they are very cost-conscious when it comes to buying beauty products (42% vs. 25%). However, their actual behaviors reflect otherwise. Teen girls are more likely than tween girls to pay full price for items (37% vs. 25%). And tween girls are more likely than teen girls to look for items that are on sale (73% vs. 66%).
