Children and teens under 15 years of age make up nearly a third of the U.S. Hispanic population and nearly a quarter of the Black population, according to newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Hispanics are the youngest demographic, with a median age of 27.0, compared to 31.7 among Blacks, 36.0 among Asians, and 38.3 among Whites. The median age is higher for women than for men across all racial and ethnic groups; the gender gap is highest among Blacks.
