More than three quarters of U.S. Internet users (76%) have clicked on links to related stories when reading articles online in the past three months, according to nRelate.
Nine in 10 Americans (92%) read online content, spending an average of seven hours each week looking for articles or videos of interest to them. They read an average of 3-4 articles and watch 2-3 videos per online session. Consumers are most likely to click on related articles when reading local or national news.
Fewer than a quarter of online adults (24%) get most of their content recommendations from friends on social networks [calculations by Research Alert]. More than half (51%) click on content received in permission-based emails or e-newsletters from brands they use.
