Existing Customers Wait On Hold Longer Than New/Prospective Customers

12/7/12

Nearly eight in 10 consumers (79%) calling toll-free customer service lines have to wait longer than one minute to connect to a live person, compared to fewer than half (49%) of those calling sales lines, according to Ifbyphone.

More than four in 10 consumers (44%) have changed brands because of slow response times to their inquiries, and another 34% would like to do so, but couldn’t because of contractual obligations (such as those with mobile phone service providers).
