Working women are happiest spending time with their significant others and friends, according to the Journal of Economic Psychology. Researchers collected data on working women to determine which combination of activities produces the greatest sense of well-being, then compiled it into a “Happiness-Optimized Day Schedule.”
One surprising finding is that there is a ceiling to many initially pleasant activities. Relaxing is only enjoyable for 78 minutes, after which it becomes boring. Likewise, most women don’t mind cooking, as long as it takes up no more than 50 minutes each day. Women also seek to limit their commute to 33 minutes a day and they want to spend a mere 36 minutes a day working.
