Women’s Vs. Men’s Views On Love, Romance, And Superheroes

2/1/13

Single men are more likely than married men to think it’s unrealistic to expect to stay married to one woman (14% vs. 6%), according to Glamour magazine. Men, regardless of their relationship status, say the most important quality in a female partner is a good heart.

Women Want To Date Only Employed Men

Three in four single women (75%) say it’s unlikely they would go out with someone who doesn’t have a job, according to matchmaking service It’s Just Lunch. Two in 10 women (21%) would date an unemployed man but be “curious to see how they’re keeping occupied in the meantime.” Only 4% have no qualms with unemployment. Women are hesitant to date jobless men because they don’t want to have to support them financially, and because they don’t want money to be a barrier to doing things together.

Meanwhile, 65% of men have no problems with dating unemployed women.

Women Cite Superman As Dream Superhero

More than three in four women (76%) say Superman is the “most kissable” superhero, according to Match.com. Both women and men agree that the ideal “superhero location” for a first kiss is flying through the air (43% of women and 42% of men say so), while teleporting through time zones is least popular (6% of women and 3% of men).

Women are less likely than men to say a quick kiss is appropriate on a first date (32% vs. 41%). Three in 10 women (30%) prefer a hug and handshake.

Men’s top date anxiety is knowing when to make the first move, while women are more stressed over whether the first kiss will be good and whether they’re sending the wrong signals.

Women and men cite bad breath (47% of women and 67% of men) and sloppy kissing style (27% of women and 14% of men) as first kiss turnoffs. Nevertheless, 82% of women and 91% of men would go out again with someone they otherwise liked despite a terrible first kiss.

Women are less likely than men to say there is not a correlation between kissing and being good in bed (65% vs. 80%).

Women in Washington, DC, are more than twice as likely to respond to a romantic inquiry from a male as women living in Los Angeles, Houston, New York, or Miami, according to online dating website Badoo. Internationally, French women are the hardest to engage in online conversation, while Czech women are the easiest.

Men Say ‘I Love You’ Before Women

Women say “I love you” at an average of eight weeks into a relationship, two weeks later than the average time men first say these words, according to the online dating website WhatsYourPrice.com. Three in four heterosexual couples who describe themselves as being in serious relationships (76%) say the man said “I love you” first. A similar percentage (73%) say the man in the relationship says these words more frequently than the woman.

Men and women tend to express their love in different ways. Two in three women first say “I love you” over the telephone, either speaking or texting. Three in 10 (30%) first say these words in private places, such as the bedroom, while 3% say them in public settings such as restaurants.
