Most college students, regardless of whether they live at home with their parents or in a dorm room, have cable (98% and 96%, respectively), according to Nielsen.

However, college students leave many of their media services behind when they leave home. Two in three (66%) have DVR services at their primary residences, but only 9% have DVR services in their dorms. Similarly, 58% of students have premium cable channels at home, while only 31% receive HBO or Showtime in their dorms.
