A new poll by YouGov asked Americans what they were planning to make their resolutions this year. A majority of Americans say they are not making any New Years Resolutions many who are making them though, are looking to make changes to their financial and physical health.
31% of Americans say they are setting new goals for the new year. The majority of(58%) of adults under 30 will be making resolutions. 24% of older Americans say they are joining them. Adults 65 and older are the most unlikely to do the trend with only 14% saying they will.
Those aged between 30 and 44 who plan to make a resolution has fallen since last year, to 29% from 44%. Adults under 30 has risen, to 58% from 52%.
Hispanic Americans (47%) are more likely than Black Americans (38%) and white Americans (27%) to make resolutions for 2025.
26% say they are planning to save more money in the new year. 22% say they want to improve physical health, 22% want to exercise more, 22% want to be happier, and 20% vow to eat healthier.
A March 2024 poll found that 16% of people who wanted tisane more money in 2024 had stuck to their goal. 57% said they had “mostly” stuck to it.
For those under 30 the most popular goals are: saving money (47%) and improve physical health (33%). Those 30-44 want to save more money (31%) and improve mental health (23%). 45-64 want to improve physical health (23%) and eat healthier (21%). 79% of adults 65 and older aren’t planning to make any resolutions, those the most commons one in that age group are improving physical health (12%) and exercising more (12%).
40% who plan to make a resolutions say its ver likely they will keep to their goals for the whole year. 50% say it is somewhat likely and 5% say it is not very likely, and 2% say they think it is not likely at all.
